On 12–13 February 2026, the Asian Vision Institute (AVI), in partnership with Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and World Vision, jointly organized the “Regional Dialogue on Sharing Good Practices and Lessons Learned on Social Inclusion of Climate Change on Women and Children in ASEAN” in Siem Reap, Kingdom of Cambodia, and via video conference. The Dialogue convened both in-person and online participants from the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN sectoral bodies, ASEAN Member States, development partners, UN agencies, civil society organisations, youth representatives, and regional networks.

The Dialogue was officially opened by His Excellency Mr. Sourng Menglong, Secretary of State in Charge of International Cooperation, Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation of Cambodia. The remarks were also delivered by Mr. Laurent Raspaud, Deputy Country Director of AFD Cambodia, and Mr. Janes Ginting, Country Director of World Vision Cambodia, and ASEAN representatives, reaffirming the shared regional commitment to addressing the social dimensions of climate change through strengthened cooperation.

Over the course of two days, participants examined ASEAN’s commitments in mitigating and combating climate change and exchanged national experiences across four priority areas: policy frameworks and implementation, prevention and awareness raising, climate governance, and support services. The discussions emphasized the importance of gender-responsive policies, child-centered approaches, and inclusive mechanisms that address the needs of persons with disabilities and vulnerable communities. Interactive sessions, including country’s report presentations and group discussions, facilitated the identification of practical recommendations and strengthened regional coordination. The Dialogue concluded with the identification of key priorities for action at national and regional levels, highlighting the need for sustained collaboration, cross-sectoral integration, and evidence-based policymaking.

AVI, together with its partners, reaffirms its commitment to advancing regional cooperation and supporting inclusive, gender-responsive, and people-centered climate resilience initiatives across Southeast Asia.
