Creating a Tech Start-Up Ecosystem in Cambodia

In the modern era, economic growth depends on innovation-driven enterprises that can expand products or services to a wider range of customer segments. Therefore, a healthy ecosystem for high-tech and deep-tech start-ups is critically important in fostering conversion from ideas to innovative products and businesses and creating innovation-driven enterprises. Without intervention, the state of the national high-tech and deep-tech start-up ecosystem is unlikely to meet Cambodia’s long-term economic aspirations. This policy brief aims to 1) assess the most critical barriers for the start-up ecosystem and 2) provide six policy options to tackle these barriers and improve the healthiness of the start-up ecosystem.
